Hello Friends!

I hope that you all had a wonderful Christmas and are ready to ring in the new year!  We had a great time at our December Bluegrass Night with The McKendrees and Don Goff & Rising Son.  I enjoyed getting to hear Don’s fine group again.  They debuted some great songs from their new album for us.

Please continue to keep Kenneth Cope in your prayers.  He’s still in the hospital at Baptist Health in Paducah, but has made some improvements and has been able to leave the CCU.  We had originally scheduled The Cope Brothers for January, but they felt that it’d be best to wait, given Kenneth’s condition.  We hope that he and the rest of the Copes will be back with us at the Opry before long!

We have Cotton Ridge (from Sikeston, MO) scheduled to perform for our January Bluegrass Night.  Steve Morrow (mandolin player with Cotton Ridge) has graciously agreed to put together a second band to fill the spot left open in The Cope Brothers’ absence.  The band will go by the name of StringTyme and will consist of Steve on mandolin, Max Davidson on banjo, Heath Stengler (banjo/guitar player with Cotton Ridge) on guitar, and Ron Barnett on bass.  This should be a great evening of bluegrass and I hope you’ll make plans to attend.

With the new year upon us, I would like to invite anyone with a band suggestion for our Bluegrass Nights to please let me know.  Also, if anyone is interested in serving our organization, we still have a vice president vacancy that we are looking to fill.  If you have any suggestions, questions, or comments on things that we can do in the new year, please contact me at jmckendree@murraystate.edu.

I hope you can make it to the KY Opry on Friday, January 5th!

Jason McKendree, JPFOB President
